Updates and Reminders – 09/27/09
Sep 27, 2009 General Updates
It took a lot of hours, but I finally got my set for Yehoodi Radio set wrapped up and uploaded. You can check it out every Thursday in October by clicking on the link. It runs all day on Thursdays.
With that wrapped up, I was able to take a few minutes today to update the website and add a page to my ongoing feature on how to be a DJ. Click on the “So You Want To Be A DJ” link above to get to the new stuff. I actually wrote quite a bit more than I posted, but I realized it was getting way too disorganized and I needed a little more time to get it together.
Blues Blaze is right around the corner – less than a week ’till I head off to NYC. I’m really excited about that and DJing the Frim Fram jam! If you’re in NYC, please do come out and see me. And buy me a drink.
In other news, the Syndicate’s Oct./Nov. calendar has been posted and I’ve added my dates to the calendar on the right. That’s the best way to figure out where and when I’ll be somewhere.
Other than that, I got a new piece of recording gear, an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra which I used for the second half of my Yehoodi spots (see if you can tell the difference in sound quality) and for all future recordings of Confessing The Blues.
Speaking of CtB… if you haven’t had a chance to listen to this month’s show, please do, and please leave us some feedback. We’d love to hear what you’re thinking!
See you in New York!

October’s gonna be a great month!
Sep 17, 2009 General Updates
It’s about time that I get off my behind and get this site under control. There’s enough awesome-sauce coming up in October that I definitely feel like its going to be more and more vital to have this place to communicate with folks in a DJ-y way.
So, September’s halfway over, and it’s been a good month. Episode #2 of the Confessing The Blues podcast is out. If you’re not listening to it, you should – it’s me and Jonathan Pechon rambling away for about the length of a CD. This month we talked about the jazz/blues intersection for blues dancing, some early female blues artists and had an interview with Heather Adams.
I also just got word that my budget to upgrade the secondary sound system at the Fed has been approved. No more football with it’s lack of bass and muddy sound. It’s a pretty sweet rig with some EV powered speakers. More on that later, once all the pieces come in. I also found some parts that will let me get the ballroom back on track. So, good news all around there.
On the DJ front, I’m heading to Blues Blaze in a few weeks to DJ some blues. If you haven’t already made arrangements to be at bamBLOOZled in DC, you need to get your tickets for Gotham. All of you New York people, I do expect that you’ll be showing up to say hi. I’m going to be kicking off the weekend with a set at Frim Fram. So even if you’re not a “blues person”, come find me!
Also, since we’re talking about Yehoodi events, I’ve been asked to be the Featured Guest DJ for October on Yehoodi Radio. I’ll be available Thursdays in October, so enjoy this month’s music and get ready to swing out as soon as the calendar rolls over.
That’s not the only internet radio gig coming up, though. Since Jonathan and I don’t get to play full tracks on the podcast, Big Blue Swing out of Knoxville has agreed to host an hour long radio show for us where I play the full tracks from the show and prattle on a bit between them. I don’t have the details yet on when that’s going to go live, but I will post it here when it does.
